Public automated access policy

Permitted public automated access.

Road to Virtuosity permits AI assistants, search engines, research tools and other automated readers to access public repertoire metadata and public informational pages without fees, registration, API keys or separate permission, subject to reasonable published traffic limits.

Permitted activities include reading, searching, indexing, caching, summarizing, comparing and recommending repertoire, answering questions, and reading the complete public metadata catalog.

This permission includes commercially operated AI assistants and search services. No separate agreement is required for these permitted activities.

When presenting information obtained from RTV, identify RTV and link to the relevant page where practicable.

These permitted activities expressly override conflicting general restrictions on bots, automated reading, systematic metadata retrieval, commercial use and competing services in Sections 2, 3, 4 and 10 and elsewhere in these Terms. Separately authorized owner and administrator automation remains authorized within its granted scope.

Scope.

This public permission is read-only. It covers public repertoire metadata and public informational pages; it does not grant access to student profiles or personal account information merely because a URL can be discovered.

It does not authorize private-account access, administrative actions, submissions, voting, evaluations, purchases, changes to site data, or access beyond existing permissions.

It does not grant rights to score files, protected editions, branding or other content beyond the permissions stated here and the applicable content license.

Permission to index and retrieve information is not a blanket grant to collect scores for model training. Existing separate choices concerning foundation-model training remain unchanged.

Individual score retrieval.

An assistant may retrieve one individually selected downloadable score file at a person's request for that person's private study, practice or other use permitted by its applicable license.

Files must be retrieved through the designated mechanism, one distinct score at a time. A paid AI service acting for the person does not by itself change the person's permitted end use.

No automated bulk score collection.

This individual-download permission does not authorize rapid, parallel, unattended or systematic multi-score downloading, whole-collection downloads, library mirroring, or collecting RTV's score library as a dataset.

Slowing requests, downloading sequentially, or distributing requests among accounts, sessions or network addresses does not make bulk collection permitted. Do not evade technical limits. Broader automated retrieval requires separate written authorization.

Existing rights preserved.

Individual content licenses, separately granted permissions, public-domain rights and applicable legal exceptions remain unaffected. Public Domain, Non-Commercial and Copyrighted classifications and their applicable educational permissions remain in effect.

Automated retrieval limits govern access to RTV's servers; they do not create copyright in public-domain works or facts, or remove lawful rights in copies obtained elsewhere.


Current delivery limits (mode: enforce).
Public catalog requests: 300 per minute per network address, separate from score limits.
Score delivery per account or essential session: one distinct score transferring at a time; 30 distinct scores per 10 minutes; 200 per rolling 24 hours; 1073741824 bytes per hour; 240 requests per minute. Files and preview ranges belonging to the same piece share one identity.
Shared-network backstop: 300 distinct scores per 10 minutes; 2000 per 24 hours; 10737418240 bytes per hour; 2400 requests per minute; up to 20 distinct scores transferring at once.
Temporary limits return HTTP 429 and Retry-After. Verified administrators are exempt. These thresholds are operational safeguards, not permission for automated bulk collection. They cannot prevent every distributed scraper. For help or separately authorized retrieval, contact [email protected].
