The right hand begins with held notes and small melodic figures while the left hand moves underneath with steady eighth-note motion. As the phrase continues, the hands trade small patterns and the texture becomes more active before reaching the first and second endings.Measures 9–18 form the second repeated section. The music moves through more chromatic harmony, with accidentals and short inner-voice motion giving this half more tension than the opening. The hands continue the same clear two-voice style, and the final measures lead back to a settled cadence with another first and second ending.Interesting fact: Bach’s short preludes are often used as preparation for larger Baroque keyboard works.
