The music is built from single melody notes in the right hand, long held notes in the left hand, finger numbers, and a clear eight-measure shape. It is extremely simple, but it still gives the student a complete little piece with melody, accompaniment, and a final cadence.Measures 1–4 present the first phrase. The right hand plays simple quarter notes and half notes, while the left hand holds long whole notes underneath. The hands stay very open and easy to read, with the right hand carrying nearly all of the movement.Measures 5–8 complete the piece with the same basic texture. The right hand continues the short melody while the left hand supports with long held tones. The final measure settles into a simple ending, giving the piece a clear close without adding extra difficulty.Interesting fact: Türk’s 120 Pieces for the Aspiring Pianist was written as teaching music, and this first piece shows how carefully the collection begins.
