Its character comes from interwoven melodic lines, with short rising figures and sustained notes passing through a closely knit contrapuntal texture.\r\nThe opening idea appears in the upper voice while a lower line enters beneath it. As additional strands join, held notes overlap with moving answers, and the small rising figures recur at different pitches. The middle grows more emphatic through sequential exchanges and accented entries, then relaxes into softer passages without losing the dialogue between voices.
