A gently moving bass and recurring chromatic colors give the miniature a quietly expressive character.\r\nMeasures 1–8 introduce the rising and falling melody above a repeated inner note. The bass mostly moves in eighth notes, occasionally broadening into intervals that enrich the harmony.\r\nMeasures 9–12 become very soft and stretch the upper melody into longer notes while the sixteenth-note layer continues below it. Sparse bass answers and a slight slowing create a suspended, inward moment.\r\nMeasures 13–20 alternate the returning opening phrase with that quieter episode.
