The student part uses mostly single notes, easy hand shifts, finger numbers, and a few left-hand notes under the melody, while the teacher duet adds the fuller blues harmony underneath.Measures 1–12 present the first half of the song. The melody moves in short, easy phrases with lyrics about wearing uncomfortable “squinchy-pinchy” shoes. The student part stays very simple, with mostly right-hand melody and a few left-hand support notes.Measures 13–24 continue the story with the same basic musical shape. The melody repeats familiar phrase patterns, and the dynamic grows to f when the lyrics describe shoes that are “too tight.” This gives the piece a little more comic emphasis without adding much technical difficulty.Measures 25–31 close the piece with the final “squinchy-pinchy shoes” line. The score includes a left-hand note on a black key near the end, followed by a short rit. into the final “Got the blues” ending.Interesting fact: This piece comes from Faber Piano Adventures and uses a teacher duet to create the blues sound.
