First published: unknown. Completeness: unknown. This G-major Allegretto combines a springing upper melody with a rocking accompaniment. Its small slurred turns and detached leaps give the opening a conversational quality. Measures 1–4 introduce the melody’s neighboring-note figure, then widen it with upward leaps and a quick descending scale. The left hand alternates lower intervals with higher single notes. Measures 5–8 recall the opening and steer it toward repeated upper notes over fuller chords. This eight-measure section is repeated. Measures 9–12 bring a forte contrast: the melody climbs into a higher register, outlines a larger arch, and descends while the accompaniment briefly drops away. Measures 13–16 restore the opening figure and close with the earlier repeated-note cadence. Interesting fact: The central contrast is created largely by register and dynamic level; the piece returns to its original melodic language after only four contrasting measures.
