First published: unknown. Completeness: unknown.Op. 249, No. 102 is a sustained, chordal Andantino in G major. A low, rocking bass supports a melody embedded in warm upper harmonies. After a one-measure bass introduction, measures 2–9 present the main chordal tune. Measures 10–17 repeat it while moving the accompaniment an octave higher. Measures 18–33 shift the harmonic color and introduce a more rising upper contour. This material also appears over two bass registers. Measures 34–41 return to the original theme and the deep opening accompaniment. Interesting fact: Register provides a major source of contrast: entire phrases keep their upper harmonies while the repeating bass pattern moves up or down an octave.
