Measures 1–8 establish the broad melody and regular accompaniment. Measures 9–16 move the tune higher and introduce a chromatic inflection before the lower line turns downward. Measures 17–24 continue the same spacious rhythm with a changed harmonic color. Measures 25–32 return toward the opening sound, giving the melody a little more motion before the final bass note. Interesting fact: At the end of each eight-measure span, the upper voice falls silent while the bass completes the phrase.
