First published: unknown. Completeness: unknown.Rustic Song is a warm A-major tune whose modest opening gradually grows into fuller harmony. Its short, rounded phrases and regular two-beat pulse give the music an easy, songlike movement. The right hand introduces the first tune alone, already carrying several voices within its chords. The left hand joins for a fuller restatement. A quieter contrasting passage separates the melody from a gently moving accompaniment, then the original tune returns with changing bass lines and a firm, compact close. Interesting fact: the left hand remains silent throughout the first statement, yet the right-hand chords already supply both melody and harmony.
