Measures 4–8 introduce running sextuplets and repeated chords that accelerate into a forceful arrival. At measure 9 the opening tempo returns, and measures 9–18 develop its dark sonority through alternating chords, quick scales, and sustained bass figures. A cadenza-like ascent at measure 19 leads to an expanded restatement in measures 20–29, where leaping octaves and chords cross the continuous figuration. Measures 30–36 place broad upper lines and accented inner voices above rolling bass sextuplets. The Poco meno mosso at measures 37–43 broadens into repeated chords and a fortissimo cadence.
