At measures 39–42, a Poco meno mosso section replaces the running texture with repeated bass notes and compact chords, gradually accelerating into denser chromatic writing. A Presto passage at measures 61–63 drives the central climax through repeated chords and wide registral exchanges. The opening tempo and staccato material later return, followed by a closing chromatic phrase at measures 115–117. The final measures recall the introductory scales and accented tonic chords.
