A rippling upper line moves above a measured lower part in the opening (mm. 1–9). Short chordal phrases and rising figures lead into a more varied passage shared between the hands (mm. 10–24). From measure 25, the lower part carries a flowing line beneath sustained upper notes; the harmony and accents grow denser around measures 30–37. The opening character returns briefly before a high note and closing chord (mm. 38–42).
