Clementi sends this compact material through wide stretches of the keyboard over slower chordal harmonies. The opening climbs from the lower register into the treble, where the repeated-note stream continues above sustained bass chords. Successive phrases descend, rise again, and take on chromatic color while the accompaniment alternates held harmonies with measured chord pulses. After a held pause, the quick material increasingly passes into the lower part, leaving longer upper notes suspended above it. The opening upward sweep returns, and the final section combines renewed high-register motion with a closing rise in both parts. One striking exchange occurs when the running figure moves into the bass while the upper part holds broad chords. The same musical material changes its role from a bright surface line to the foundation of the texture.
