Above it, the melody alternates between held intervals and little descending ornaments, giving the music a singing quality within its active texture. The opening repeats a compact upper gesture over arching lower figures. Longer melodic spans follow, rising through more insistent harmonies before relaxing into quieter answers. In the later section, fuller chords and chromatic sequences broaden the sound while the accompaniment preserves its characteristic rise and fall. The final phrases diminish, slow, and return to a simpler melodic shape before a quiet close. An interesting feature is this Finale's restrained ending: Clementi writes a rallentando and soft dynamics over the last phrases, letting the persistent motion gently subside.
