Sustained lower harmonies alternate with more active replies. The opening presents the turning figure in triplets before reshaping it in ordinary eighth notes. A long descending gesture leads into a lower, more compact phrase, and the main idea returns with changed harmony. In the later section, the bass takes over the leaping melody beneath held upper intervals. The final flourish passes upward through the registers and ends in a sharply accented high chord. Interesting fact: The opening triplet figure returns in even eighth notes, changing its rhythmic feel while preserving its recognizable contour.
