Its small 3/8 measures give the music a gently swaying movement. Measures 1–16 introduce repeated upper intervals, dotted rhythms, and moving inner voices over tied bass notes. Measures 17–32 replace this compact chordal texture with sixteenth-note arches above broken lower harmonies. Measures 33–48 bring back the opening theme. The extended ending exchanges running figures between the voices, rises to a brighter register, and finishes with a succession of separated, full chords. Interesting fact: The final section develops a new exchange of running figures after the main theme has already returned, giving the piece a substantial closing extension.
