The Tema in mm. 11–34 presents a lilting 3/4 melody above bass notes and chords, gradually adding paired notes and ornamental runs. Variation I, mm. 35–50, carries that melody within flowing figuration and passes descending gestures between the hands. Variation II, mm. 51–74, changes to 3/8: its light upper running line gives way to a more chromatic episode with moving left-hand figures, then returns. The Finale, mm. 75–118, combines hand-crossing chord responses and chromatic runs; the Brillante passage from m. 99 brings the melody into continuous arpeggios before an ascending flourish and the final held chord.
