Paired notes thicken the melody before triplets and a brief lower flourish lead into a more chromatic passage. 2. Measures 8–16: Slurred lines move independently through changing registers. The lower part expands into a rapid ascent, while the upper melody continues and then relaxes through poco ritardando. 3. Measures 17–24: A brief unaccompanied upper figure becomes a prolonged trill. A moving inner line and oscillating accompaniment gather beneath it, then the texture falls away at the trill ending. 4. Measures 25–36: A rising flourish reaches the high register. Quintuplets, triplets and contrasting non-legato and legato lines lead to sparse replies and a diminishing lower phrase. 5. Measures 37–43: The opening material returns in expanded form.
