Short upper turns and increasingly chromatic harmonies lead to a longer held phrase as the lower line descends. 2. Measures 21–36: Repeated notes and a rising flourish expand into a fuller chordal passage. Triplets, short-long figures and overlapping inner lines alternate between the hands before a softer, slowing transition. 3. Measures 37–54: The theme moves to the lower part beneath chromatic upper figures. It then returns in a fuller upper texture over flowing lower groups, with sustained notes and a brief relaxation at the end. 4. Measures 55–62: The slower passage layers an upper chordal melody, a middle version of the theme and a repeating low figure. The three lines overlap as the upper part gradually descends. 5. Measures 63–71: Quickening figures lead into tremolo around held central harmonies. The motion subsides into a quiet thematic fragment, followed by a low bass octave, an ascending arpeggiated sonority and a sustained final chord.
