Measures 5–16 contrast forceful single-note hunting figures with soft interval replies, supported by held lower chords. In measures 17–36, descending calls lead into low accented chords, rising repeated notes, a short trill and fuller paired-note writing before the printed repeat. A chromatically altered version begins at measure 37. The texture grows into strong octave and chordal exchanges in measures 42–53, then thins to quiet single-note calls in 54–55. Measures 56–73 bring a fully written return of the earlier hunting figures and their contrasting replies. A further trill and increasingly full sonorities lead through measures 74–87 to the second repeat. The separate pickup and measures 88–89 close with compact fortissimo chordal punctuation.
