First published: unknown. Completeness: unknown.Op. 298, No. 22 creates a lively three-beat texture from interlocking fragments. Short upper notes and paired lower chords fit into one another’s rests. The opening section alternates little melodic links with dotted gestures and accented arrivals. Its closing phrase drops into the lower register and reaches Fine. The contrasting section introduces more chromatic melody notes and replaces repeated lower chords with rising bass-to-chord pairs. A continuous upper run briefly breaks the fragmented pattern before the return to the opening. Interesting fact: Much of the apparent continuous motion is shared between the hands: notes in one part regularly fill the written rests in the other.
