The familiar tune, “IRBY,” was composed by Henry John Gauntlett. Since 1919, an arrangement by Arthur Henry Mann has traditionally been used as the processional hymn for the Christmas Eve Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at King’s College, Cambridge.
