Measures 1–16 introduce short melodic arches, each touched by an accent and usually ending in a rest. A brief chromatic turn links the phrases, while the later accompaniment opens into single notes. Measures 17–24 widen the melodic leaps and climb toward a stronger high point. Measures 25–40 bring back the opening material and its airy accompaniment, closing with a fuller held harmony. Interesting fact: The score labels the movement “Mouvement de Valse,” and the accompaniment separates all three beats with rests, giving the waltz a particularly light pulse.
