A more playful middle section adds contrast before the opening returns. Measures 1–16 set out the main theme through repeated notes, short slurred answers, and longer resting points. A few altered bass notes and a quick melodic turn add color to the otherwise regular flow. Measures 17–32 introduce the passage marked poco scherzando. Repeated-note figures, leaps, rests, and higher accented arrivals make the melody more animated while the accompaniment keeps moving. Measures 33–48 return to the quieter grazioso theme. Its familiar phrases and harmonic touches reappear, ending with a gradual decrease in intensity. Interesting fact: The whole piece forms three equal sixteen-measure spans, with the more playful middle framed by related opening and closing sections.
