The upper voice begins alone before the lower voice joins the conversation. The two parts trade the opening shape through a series of sequences, alternating continuous motion with longer ornamented notes. In the later middle passage, a sustained upper trill floats over a moving bass line; the roles then reverse. The flowing figures return and descend toward a compact final cadence. An interesting detail is the extended trill’s change of voice: after remaining high above the bass, it moves into the lower part while the upper melody resumes its motion.
