The opening arpeggio idea moves between the hands, expanding into sequences and descending answers. More chromatic passages briefly interrupt the clear outlines of the theme, while short rests separate some of the later exchanges. The opening idea returns before a rising sequence and final descending figures bring the piece back to A minor. An interesting detail is how the arpeggio figure changes direction and register while retaining its rhythm, allowing a small opening idea to shape nearly the entire piece.
