First published: unknown. Completeness: unknown.Op. 190, No. 9 is a spacious C-major miniature built entirely from broad note values. Two single-note voices rise and fall in balanced phrases. Measures 1–8 set a melody of half notes and whole notes above a largely sustained lower line. Measures 9–16 make the bass more mobile, allowing the two parts to answer and cross directions before the long final notes. Interesting fact: The lower voice changes character halfway through: its repeated whole-measure supports give way to a sequence of half-note movements.
