The first eight-measure section contrasts small upper turns with accented sustained notes. A held bass supports a moving inner line, and the phrase closes with a brief chromatic rise. The second section begins with a descending pickup and a higher repeated-note response. Fuller lower chords replace much of the earlier bass texture; a late ascending run is answered by a descent into the final cadence. Interesting fact: The lower staff contains two rhythmic layers at the opening: a held bass note and a separate line of quarter notes above it.
