Measures 1–4 alternate a moving upper figure with a sustained note, while the bass answers with short groups of chords. Measures 5–8 replace those chords with a more continuous single-note bass line. Measures 9–12 restore the opening exchanges. Measures 13–16 broaden the melody into longer notes over a rising and falling accompaniment, then close with separated chords and rests. Interesting fact: The same upper theme sounds over two different lower textures: chordal replies and a steadily moving single-note line.
