Following a short upbeat, measures 1–4 introduce a G-major phrase with repeated upper notes and chordal replies. Measures 5–13 unfold a flowing eighth-note melody above a bass note and two accompanying chords in each bar. Measures 14–20 introduce detached notes and chromatic inflections; the flowing melody returns in measure 21 and grows into fuller, accented phrases. Measures 37–45 connect back to the introductory material. From measure 46, the flowing theme returns once more, followed by rising arpeggios and the final chords.
