Measures 17-33 move through quieter sustained tones and chromatic descending figures, alternating with stronger chordal accents. The opening material returns at measure 34 with thicker repeated chords and a growing upper line. Measures 44-49 press the repeated figures upward and into a bright high-register climax. Measures 50-55 extend the triplet motion into a final rise, then close with emphatic chords and a sustained D-sharp-minor sonority.
