After a short opening pickup, measures 2–9 flow through recurring rising and falling figures above wide, changing lower harmonies. At measures 10–16, a longer upper line appears while the flowing motion moves below it; the line bends through chromatic notes and briefly softens. Measures 17–22 restore the quicker upper figures, growing and receding in waves.
