Completeness: unknown.Alkan’s Étude in D minor, Op. 39 No. 2, “En rhythme molossique,” opens with forceful repeated chords and bass punctuations (mm. 1–36). A sustained, dolce episode introduces lighter repeated-note figures (mm. 37–68), followed by a flowing Sostenuto continuation (mm. 69–106) and a long contrapuntal passage of continuous lines (mm. 107–158). Cantabile and espressivo writing broadens the texture (mm. 159–190), before the repeated-note motion returns a tempo (mm. 191–218) and subsides into a smorzando close (mm. 219–223).
