Completeness: unknown.Alkan’s first movement of the Concerto for Solo Piano, Op. 39 No. 8 in G-sharp minor, opens with a quasi-trombe tutti theme, sweeping passagework, and contrasting lyrical subjects (mm. 1–498). A renewed tutti begins an immense central span of rapid figuration and cantabile writing (mm. 499–889), followed by sharply contrasted piano and tutti exchanges (mm. 890–1111). An a tempo, con brio section marked quasi-tamburo drives the repeated-note climax (mm. 1112–1240); the final a tempo return recalls the opening material and broadens into a slargando close (mm. 1241–1342).
