Measures 1–20: Chromatically shifting paired notes move in a nearly continuous upper line over detached bass notes and occasional held chords. The figures rise into a higher register, then recede. Measures 21–32: Thicker chords and changes in the bass interrupt the paired-note motion. After a louder passage, a quieter dolce phrase closes this span. Measures 33–45: The paired figures return in different registers, with brief held-chord passages and a change of key signature before the original texture resumes. Measures 46–63: Rising and falling chromatic thirds alternate with punctuating bass notes and arpeggiated figures. The texture swells, then retreats to softer sustained harmonies. Measures 64–67 rise once more before isolated notes and rests bring the piece to a quiet close.
