Its quick motion rises through the registers, giving the opening a sense of gathering momentum. A held upper chord sounds above low figures that climb into the treble. Sustained bass harmonies then anchor the flowing upper part before the motion spreads between both staves. Chromatic changes darken the middle phrases, while accented notes emerge from the surrounding figuration. The opening idea returns and expands into higher sequences; later passages settle over recurring bass tones. After a forceful final surge, the music diminishes and slows into a soft closing chord.
