A compact theme of repeated notes and a falling line becomes the center of an increasingly rich exchange among the voices. The subject begins alone in the upper register, then gains an answering voice before the bass enters. Flowing sequences and chromatic lines connect later appearances, sometimes expanding into paired notes or fuller chords. The middle portion moves through changing harmonies while long notes hold against active figures above and below. Toward the end, repeated notes bring the subject back into focus, and broad bass motion supports the final expansion. A rallentando and diminuendo draw the busy counterpoint into a quiet, sustained closing chord. The printed heading states that the piece was published in Paris in 1780 and later revised and considerably enlarged by Clementi himself.
