Long tones give the texture breadth while quicker figures weave through and around them. The opening alternates trilled notes between registers, with a measured upper line above a more active lower response. Short ornamental runs connect the phrases, and fuller harmonies gradually increase the weight of the sound. After a brief slowing, the opening relationship returns and develops into longer stretches of overlapping trills. The later music becomes denser, joining rolling accompaniment with a high decorated line. Repeated chordal figures then give way to a downward passage that passes through the texture before the final low harmony. The trills are more than isolated ornaments: several extend across successive harmonies while other voices continue moving, making a sustained trill part of the musical fabric itself.
