Clementi sustains its restless character through a tightly interlocking upper texture, while a more widely spaced bass line traces long melodic arcs. The opening's dotted gestures and quick connecting notes recur throughout, changing register and harmonic color as the bass moves through broad leaps and stepwise replies. Inner notes overlap beneath the upper line, making the motion sound continuous even when individual voices pause. Later passages introduce firmer bass figures and brighter high-register sequences before the texture settles lower. The final phrases diminish and slow into a soft, held ending. An interesting detail is that the upper staff contains more than one rhythmic strand: longer notes overlap the quick figure beneath them, creating a small internal dialogue within the already active texture.
