Measures 1–7: A gently shaped melody uses dotted rhythms, small ornaments and short slurs above a mostly moving eighth-note bass. 2. Measures 8–21: Chromatic inner notes and held bass tones thicken the texture. A brief rising and falling run leads into an ornamented cadence, after which the first section repeats. 3. Measures 22–43: Opening-related figures return in a changed tonal setting. Longer upper notes, active inner notes and chromatic harmonies create a more sustained middle passage. 4. Measures 44–59: The earlier dotted melodic figures reappear. The music moves through another sustained phrase, then a final ascending and descending flourish and a quiet closing cadence. The second section repeats.
