The first strain, mm. 5–21, alternates a compact single-note melody with fuller interval replies and repeated bass-and-chord figures; its two endings lead into the second strain. Measures 22–38 broaden the upper line into chordal responses and stronger register contrasts, closing at the marked Fine. The B-flat-major Trio begins with two bars of left-hand accompaniment, mm. 39–40. Its first strain, mm. 41–57, uses longer melodic tones and slurred eighth-note replies, while mm. 58–74 develop fuller intervals, rising figures and changing dynamic emphasis. The printed Marsch da capo al Fine returns to the march and closes at m. 38.
