The opening pickup leads into a lively D-major theme in mm. 1–15, where a rising upper line threads through flowing triplets and emphatic chordal replies; first and second endings close the repeated section in mm. 16–17. Measures 18–39 develop the triplet motion through changing registers, sustained inner tones and chromatic lines, followed by the chordal calls and brief recollections of the opening in mm. 40–47. The earlier material returns in mm. 48–57 and broadens into more forceful chordal phrases before the first section closes at Fine in m. 67. In mm. 68–103, the slower B-major section sets a repeated upper note above a moving inner line and gently broken accompaniment, with rising replies and later chromatic changes. The Lento arpeggio and fermata in m. 104 lead into a Tempo I upbeat and the printed return to the opening, ending at Fine.
