The accompanied theme in mm. 1-16 presents “El jiwneh Hagalil” in a quiet chordal setting. Variations 1 and 2, mm. 17-48, add flowing lower figures, inner voices and displaced chord attacks. Variation 3, mm. 49-88, expands the texture into energetic chord chains, rapid approaches and sustained bass sonorities. Variation 4, mm. 89-104, returns to a slower, prayer-like chord melody above gently moving accompaniment.Variation 5, mm. 105-130, alternates clipped chords with rapid ornamental runs and broad arpeggios; m. 114 continues across a system break. The rubato sixth variation, mm. 131-148, uses widely spaced harmonies, ties and upper flourishes. Variation 7, mm. 149-168, sends a single running line between the hands and leads directly into the light staccato chords of Variation 8, mm. 169-184.The Calmato ninth variation, mm. 185-216, develops a sustained melody into more elaborate ornamentation, then transfers the moving line to the left hand. Its opening 3/8 changes to 3/4 at m. 195. Variation 10, mm. 217-243, contrasts very rapid upper three-note bursts with a detached, then moving, lower part. Variation 11, mm. 244-260, brings independently phrased upper and bass lines into a more expressive texture. The Brioso twelfth variation, mm. 261-285, combines chord bursts, changing octaves and quick register shifts. Variation 13, mm. 286-308, maintains legatissimo upper figuration over a slower lower melody. Variation 14, mm. 309-332, alternates staggered staccato figures with fuller legato phrases. The triumphant fifteenth variation, mm. 333-347, uses glissandi, broad chords and two shorter 2/4 responses. Variation 16, mm. 348-371, passes flowing 9/8 figures between the hands and closes the variation sequence. The Sonata begins at m. 372 with syncopated short figures, then grows into a thickly voiced chord melody. An acceleration leads to Poco più mosso at m. 411, where rapid filigree surrounds sustained melodic notes. The texture thins before a long fermata in m. 442. The six-voice fugue, mm. 443-492, begins low in the keyboard, accumulates entries and independent inner parts, and builds through a four-bar crescendo and tempo return. The sonata material returns in fully written, altered form at m. 493. A second-tempo passage at m. 537 places much of the flowing work in the left hand while the upper line lengthens into held notes. Eroicamente begins the 12/8 coda at m. 571. Its growing chordal and octave texture leads to the four-staff climax at m. 595, with explicit hand exchanges and pedal-supported sonorities, an allargando chord sequence in m. 606, and the final fermata in m. 607. The complete work proceeds in written order; there are no navigation repeats.
