First published: unknown. Completeness: unknown.Op. 298, No. 8 is a graceful F-major miniature in 6/8, combining chromatic turns, delicate runs, and unusually spacious rests. Measures 1–8 present small rising figures and tied chordal answers, then let a lower melodic line emerge beneath sustained upper notes. Measures 9–16 add quicker runs and more animated exchanges between the voices. The final section replaces the flowing lines with separated chords and sudden changes of register. Strong accented arrivals and intervening silences lead to the last settled harmony. Interesting fact: Its character changes markedly at the close: the opening’s connected, singing gestures give way to isolated chords separated by rests.
