Beethoven’s Bagatelle No. 6, Op. 126, No. 6 is a dramatic piano piece in E-flat major with a striking contrast between a brief, forceful Presto opening and a much longer Andante amabile e con moto section. The piece begins with fast, bold motion and strong chords, then shifts into a gentler 3/8 melody with delicate right-hand figures and flowing left-hand support. Measures 1–6 form the opening Presto. The right hand rises quickly through repeated notes and broken figures while the left hand supports with strong chordal motion. The section is marked f and ends with firm chords, rests, and fermatas, making the beginning sound bold and sudden.
Measures 7–22 begin the Andante amabile e con moto. The character changes completely. The right hand plays a gentle melody with tenuto markings, small turns, and slurred figures, while the left hand moves in quiet broken patterns underneath. This section is repeated, giving the music a calm, balanced shape after the dramatic opening.
