We do not host videos on this website. Video hosting is an incredibly difficult and monumental task. Youtube has mastered video hosting - with speed, safety, and security that is unparalleled online. Therefore we exclusively use Youtube for all our videos. If a student wishes to earn points, compete, and climb the leaderboards - they must submit video links from a Youtube channel. Also - creating, recording, and sharing videos is an important step in developing the skills needed for future musicians. The reality for musicians is that more people will watch your online performances then will ever hear you in-person. That is why we encourage you start using social media early.
Points can be earned by submitting video recordings of your performances. Choose a piece from the sheet music library - learn it, record it, submit it. Once approved - you will be able to collect points and level up.
Answer...Each piece of music is evaluated for both learning difficulty and performance difficulty. Pieces that are longer are harder to perform perfectly so they are given additional points. But if a piece is short but extremely fast it will still earn more points. Pieces with more accidentals are harder to learn so they are given additional points even if the performance may be easy once the piece is learned. Pieces that are meant to be played quickly - get more points. Pieces that are easy to learn but uncomfortable/challenging to play - get additional points. We also take into account that some pieces are easier to perform but harder to record since during performance we can usually get away with a few mistakes.
In order to submit a public video, your youtube channel must be verified by an admin. Please wait for the process to be completed. Also - in order to submit a public video, you need to watch and evaluate another student. The exchange of evaluations allows students to keep the website free and creates a community that helps each other.
Check to see the copyright status - if the piece is copyrighted - it is only allowed for private evaluation. Why? We do not post copyrighted sheet music - therefore students will not have access to your performance sheet music and will not be able to evaluate you.
1. Maybe you used the wrong YouTube channel? All your videos must come directly from the Youtube channel that has been verified on your account. 2. Too many mistakes in your performance? Watch the video example of the piece you are submitting. Compare the speed, accuracy, and rhythm to see if you are playing it correctly. 3. Wrong piece entirely, or wrong video link, or accidently submitted to the wrong page? Please double check.
We are not able to monitor and censor any communication between users. Therefore we made a decision to only allow teachers to comment. If you feel a need to say something specific to another student - you may do so directly to their youtube channel. Youtube is able to monitor and censor comments and is a much safer place to communicate.
1. Make sure you are using the correct Youtube channel, the correct names, and the correct link. 2. Make sure your video is not edited - but a single take performance 3. Try re-submitting your piece. Sometimes we get technical errors. Maybe an error from admin or user side. 4. You can always submit for a private evaluation. We will help you with the problem and tell you exactly what you need to do.
Always contact us at roadtovirtuosity@gmail.com for any questions/problems you may have. Thank you!
If we find an error with your video - (this includes the wrong link, or incorrect piece) you will automatically get a refund and the private video submission will be rejected. If a teacher spends time evaluating your video - but you dont' like the feedback - NO REFUND. Please refer to user agreement.
