Bekasova - 6 Sonatinas
Piano Repertoire
-
Bekasova – Six Sonatinas is a modern original piano cycle consisting of six short multi-movement works by contemporary composer Polly Bekasova. Each sonatina follows a clear three-movement design and presents a compact, lyrical interpretation of the classical sonatina form through a contemporary tonal language.
The volume contains six complete sonatinas, each in three movements (fast–slow–fast), for a total of 18 individual movements. The movements are consistently titled Allegretto, Andante, and Allegro, creating a coherent formal and stylistic framework across the entire collection.
Each movement is presented as a musically complete solo piano work, suitable for both study and performance. The writing features clear tonal centers, lyrical melodic lines, broken-chord and Alberti-style accompaniments, and transparent textures that reflect a modern, accessible approach to classical sonatina form.
Each movement also includes a QR code linking to an online reference performance, allowing musicians to hear tempo, balance, articulation style, and character for confident practice and preparation.
Six Sonatinas belongs to the tradition of contemporary pedagogical-grade piano literature and modern character sonatinas. It is well suited for teaching studios, recital programming, and private study as a legitimate modern counterpart to classical sonatina repertoire.
This book is published by Road to Virtuosity (RTV) — an international music organization dedicated to structured repertoire, musical growth, and performance-ready resources.
Includes:
Bekasova – Six Sonatinas
Six original piano sonatinas
18 total movements (6 × Allegretto, Andante, Allegro)
