“Carol Of The Bells” is arranged here as an advanced piano solo built around four clear sections. The arrangement begins with the famous bell-like repeated motive, grows into a fuller chordal texture, moves into a fast running section, and then finishes with a strong chordal ending. The piece keeps the repeated carol pattern at the center, but each section changes the weight, motion, and energy of the music.

Measures 1–35 form the opening section. The right hand begins with the repeated bell motive, while the left hand starts very lightly and gradually adds more support. The texture stays fairly transparent at first, but by the end of the section the harmony becomes fuller and the arrangement has more tension.

Measures 36–70 create the second section, with a stronger rhythmic foundation and thicker harmony. The left hand uses repeated bass notes and chord patterns while the right hand continues the carol material above it. This section gives the piece more weight and drive, moving away from the thin opening sound.

Measures 71–94 form the fast running section. Both hands become much more active, with continuous sixteenth-note motion and broken patterns moving across the keyboard. This section gives the arrangement its biggest sense of motion and creates a contrast from the repeated chordal writing before it.

Measures 95–126 make up the final chordal section. The running motion gives way to heavier repeated chords, stronger bass support, and a broad final build. The last measures keep the bell-like repetition but turn it into a much larger, more powerful ending.

Interesting fact: “Carol of the Bells” appears in the 1990 film Home Alone, and John Williams’ soundtrack includes a version of the carol. The film helped make the piece even more closely associated with modern Christmas music.
