Reinhold’s Walzer, Op. 39, No. 4, is a graceful G-major dance whose melody often crosses the bar line over a steady bass-and-chord pulse. Chromatic neighbors, small pauses, and rising runs give its regular triple meter an elastic melodic surface.

The opening section alternates gently curved phrases with fuller chordal arrivals. Its return adds little grace-note decorations before a quiet cadence. A D-major contrasting section moves the tune into the bass beneath repeated upper chords. Later exchanges bring the melody back upward and build a stronger surge before the bass-led material softens again. The instruction to return to the beginning restores the opening waltz and its earlier ending.

Interesting fact: much of the contrasting section reverses the opening roles—the lower part sings while the upper part supplies the familiar second- and third-beat waltz chords.
